Turbo Speedo Video was the first thing I vibe coded that actually worked. Before this I'd made websites, sure, and tried a bunch of random ideas, but this little utility was the first thing that felt like I'd made something useful from scratch with AI.

It just speeds up videos. I originally needed it for my [Ditherface](https://www.tomjohn.design/content/ditherface) timelapses, which were way too long, and for some reason I couldn't find an easy way to just make the video file 10× faster without uploading it, downloading it, opening it in a video editor and then exporting it again. It was such a waste of time. With this, it's like three clicks.

It runs in [Raycast](https://www.raycast.com) and uses [FFmpeg](https://ffmpeg.org) to change the speed anywhere from 0.25× to 40×, with a choice of frame rate and the option to keep or remove the audio.

I'd planned for it to be its own Raycast extension, but when I [submitted it to the Raycast Store](https://github.com/raycast/extensions/pull/30914), they told me to add it to [Media Converter](https://www.raycast.com/leandro.maia/media-converter) as a PR instead, so I did. Thankfully, [that PR](https://github.com/raycast/extensions/pull/31522) got approved, and it works great.

You can still install the original extension manually if you pull [the repo](https://github.com/tomjohndesign/turbo-speedo-video) down locally.
