Demoing the Basedash Slackbot

We'd just launched a Slackbot for Basedash, and I felt like it needed a demo. Inside Basedash you can already talk to your database, and ours has Slack, Stripe, warehouse and Segment data all dumping into it. So I asked about myself, how active I'd been, and it wrote 12, 14 different queries to understand what that meant (0:20). I've been extremely active building charts and dashboards in 2025. We use it when people sign up, to see how active they've been, or to understand how a workspace is using the product, or to debug something, like how long the loading time for chats has been over time (0:38).

The new part is that we launched it in Slack (1:06). I can mention Basedash and ask something like how many people visited our website today versus yesterday. We already get notifications in Slack from other services, signups and that kind of stuff, so when a question comes up I don't have to leave, and the whole team can ask it together (1:19). It writes the query in the background, I get a notification when it's done, and it's 250 unique visitors today and 587 yesterday (1:42).

Then I asked a follow-up in the thread, mentioning it again: rank where this week's visitors came from, Reddit, LinkedIn or anywhere else (1:52). I showed off website data because it's easier to share than talking to my product data in front of you (2:17). The visualization is middling, and we were working on making it better, but Reddit and Framer were giving us a lot of traffic, and that's really cool to see when you have a one-off question (2:53).

We were starting to share it with our customers, and I had a sneaking suspicion it was going to be the most popular feature we'd ever launched, because all of a sudden Slack is Basedash, and it's a teammate you can ask whatever you want (2:35). So I had to demo it.

When I posted it on X I wrote:

We just shipped what I think might be our most popular feature.

A Slackbot.

In Basedash, you can talk to your data. You can have a chat with it. You can ask it questions about your data warehouse, your database, your users, or really anything that you have connected to Basedash.

Think of it like GPT/Claude/Cursor with full context of your schema, KPIs, dashboards, and warehouse data.

It'll write dozens of queries, ask for clarification, do reports, understand exactly what you're asking for, and basically it just helps with those times where you're not really sure what's going on.

You may have an error or a new user, or some kind of feature you want to dig into, and you can go down that rabbit hole directly with Basedash.

But now, if you're using Basedash, you can do that from Slack -- which is where you're working 90% of the time, let's be real.

So that means that anyone who's in your Slack now has an instantly accessible AI data analyst that's just a mention away.

You can ask it questions like:

What's our MRR? (If you have Stripe connected)

How active have our users been? (Segment / Mixpanel)

Who else is having X error? (Sentry)

How many people visited our website yesterday? (Google Analytics)

Really, anything data related.

The cool part is that it knows about the stuff you've made in Basedash, so if you ask it to mention a specific chart, it'll use that data. And now anyone on your team can access it without having to login.

I'm personally going to build a dashboard to monitor the usage of this feature right after I send this tweet.

Never thought I'd demo a Slackbot, but I had to. There's no other BI tool that can do what we're doing with data and I had to show it off.
